SQL vs SQL... vs SQL?
A number of folks replied to yesterday’s message (i.e., SQL vs SQL) to let me know that SQL is also a common term in the marketing domain and in that space there is only one pronunciation.
Friend-of-the-list and fellow daily emailer, Erin Balsa put it like this (shared with permission):
If you say SEE-KWL to a marketer, they’ll laugh you out of the room. Because an SQL is a sales qualified lead, and it is ALWAYS pronounced ESS-CUE-EL. 😉
Good to know!
(I mean, it makes total sense... imagine someone pronouncing ICP as ICK-PEE? LOL!)
To reiterate the moral of the story from yesterday:
If you’re going to use the jargon of your target market, make sure you use it correctly.
Thanks for the replies, y’all :-)
Yours,
