Stop Trading Your Time for Money with Jonathan Stark - Part 1

Sent by Jonathan Stark on April 21st, 2020

Ben and Mark from The Friday Habit invited me on their podcast recently to talk about value pricing professional services. Here’s an excerpt from the show notes:

Jonathan is working to flip the script on the traditional hourly pricing model used in freelancing and consulting. He points out that when you price your services based on hours, you are creating an unnecessary limit on earning potential. Instead, he advocates for a value-based pricing model that is based on the value of your service to the client. While it can be intimidating to think about value-based pricing for intangible services, Jonathan says that everything is measurable, even if the measurements are subjective like Amazon reviews. When it comes down to it, the client will tell you what they are willing to pay and why.

You might recognize Ben’s name… I have featured his company Knapsack Creative and their excellent “website in a day” productized service on the list before. In the interview, Ben mentioned that Knapsack is so dialed in that he got kinda bored and started not one but two new brands. Yay productizing!

Anyway… we went so deep that they had to break the episode into two parts. Here’s the link to part 1:
