Would you rather make $500K or $5M?

When setting annual goals for your business, it’s quite common for people to jump straight to defining their desired annual revenue.

And this makes sense... It’s a business after all, so how much money you want it to generate is a reasonable consideration.

But in absence of other goals, things can go off the rails.

For example,

Q: Would you rather make $500k this year or $5M?

I would guess that most people would probably pick the latter ;-)

But what if the question was:

Q: Would you rather make $500k this year working 8 hours per week, or $5M working 80 hours per week?

I’m quite sure the distribution of people who chose the $5M option would be a lot lower.
