Say what?

It’s hard to remember stuff that is difficult to say. So… you might want to remove awkward phrasing or stilted messaging or clumsy language from your website and other marketing materials.

The funny thing is, this kind of language doesn’t seem to crop up as much when speaking as when writing. People tend to get “fancier” with the written word for some reason.

So here’s an exercise for you:

Read your home page out loud.

Like, actually say it.

When you get to something that doesn’t feel right coming out of your mouth, update the text to what you would actually say.

Don’t be cute or clever… just rewrite it like you’d say it and it will be more memorable.
