My LinkedIn Tactics 2024
A bunch of people have asked what tactics I’ve been using to 10x my reach on LinkedIn, so here’s a quick rundown:
Profile Changes
- I updated my profile tagline and banner to make it face-slappingly obvious who I help with what
- I paid for LinkedIn Premium, so my website link would be added in various places throughout the LI interface
- I added featured links with graphics that make it easy for people to click through from my LI profile to my website
Posting Changes
- I don’t link to anything in my posts anymore (the algo apparently punishes you for linking out)
- I write longer posts so people have to click “see more...” to read the whole thing
- I include an image on every post to stand out more when people are scrolling through the feed
- I added a CTA to the bottom of each post that instructs the reader to: Click “Visit my website” under my name to subscribe
- I use a scheduler to make sure that I post every day at the same time
Behavior Changes
- I started engaging more with people in the comments on my posts
- I started engaging more with people in my DMs
- I started posting thoughtful comments on other people’s posts when I felt I had something useful to add
Results
- Impressions up 1500%
- Engagement up 3700%
- The traffic to my mailing list sign-up page has shot up
- Total mailing list subscribers has gone from “up and down” to steady growth
Conclusion
Behaving on LinkedIn the way LinkedIn wants you to clearly has a positive impact on your LinkedIn analytics. Shocker! ;-)
More importantly, it seems like you can reliably funnel a portion of the LinkedIn activity to your mailing list. Sweet! :-)
One surprise is that after many years off of social media, I have been having fun on LinkedIn...
It hasn’t felt toxic at all, I’ve connected with some new cool people, and the conversations have inspired some new insights.
I can’t say how long it’ll stay this way, but as long as it does, I’ll probably continue to hang out there.
Feel free to connect if you’re active there:
Yours,
