Win-win doesn’t mean compromise

When I buy a coffee from Karlee at Karlee’s Kafe, we both win.

Both of us are better off.

We’re both happier than before.

I wanted the coffee more than my three bucks, and Karlee wanted my three bucks more than she wanted to keep that coffee.

There was no negotiation.

There was no compromise.

We didn’t split the difference.

Here’s the thing...

Don’t conflate creating a win-win situation with negotiation or compromise.

They’re unrelated.

Yours,

—J
