Of Cogs And Keys
Cogs and keys are both carefully shaped metal objects, but they are very different.
A cog is a small part of a big machine.
A key unlocks the value that lies beyond the door.
When a cog breaks, the machine can no longer produce value.
When a key breaks, the value behind the door could be lost forever.
A cog is cheap and easy to replace.
A key is unique and closely guarded.
How much a cog is worth mostly has to do with what it’s made of and how well it’s manufactured.
How much a key is worth mostly has to do with what’s behind the door.
So...
Would you rather be a cog or a key?
Yours,
—J
