Podcast challenge, one week on… (and free video)

Podcasting is an almost magical way for self-employed folks to grow their business (e.g., developers, designers, writers, photographers, illustrators, accountants, lawyers, etc.)
Exactly week ago, I opened enrollment for the 5-Day Podcast Challenge to y’all here on my daily list. A cohort of aspiring podcasters rose to the challenge. Just one week later, many have accomplished the following:
- Brainstormed, clarified, and defined show concept
- Settled on a show format, title, tagline, and artwork
- Setup and tested their equipment and recording space
- Installed and configured their podcasting software
- Recorded and edited a test episode with a buddy
- Started sending out templated email invitations to potential guests
Five days is not a lot of time to accomplish these things, but this is by design. 5DPC features a breakneck pace on purpose to help people crash through their procrastination and perfectionist tendencies. Still, life can get in the way and some folks are still working through the material.
But that’s okay!
The 5DPC Slack room will be open to the group for another month, so the entire cohort can finish all their todos and have actual guests booked on their brand-spanking new podcast. Even if it takes some participants a month to get their podcast off the ground, that’s still really fast!
Do you run an expertise-based business?
I’ll definitely be running another 5DPC, but I have not set dates yet. It’ll depend on the level of interest. The more people who are interested, the sooner it’ll be.
