5-Day Podcast Challenge is my favorite online course ever. In five days, you’re recording your first podcast episode in the “jstark style.”

Jonathan Alger

Hi Jonathan,

I took TPS and your 5-day Podcast Challenge in 2020 and started my podcast just 2 years ago now and I’ve already been experiencing this.

I’ve had more than one person meet me in real life or get on a call and say “I can’t believe I’m talking with a celebrity!” It is wild how the asymmetric intimacy thing works.

As someone who works from home behind a computer most of the time, I have never thought of myself as a celebrity and I was so taken aback the first time someone said that to me.

Podcasting and blogging regularly have really made it so no one even asks to see my resume or portfolio. I get leads that come in who already completely trust me and think I’m an expert by the time we actually get on a call.

Thanks for the suggestion and accountability to start a podcast in the first place!

Alison Hoenes

Just yesterday I had my third 1-on-1 consulting call ever (and the first was less than a month ago). This was the second person who found me via my podcast.

And it was honestly a bit of a funny feeling. Literally, the first thing the client said as an introduction was “I know you, but you don’t know me.”

I’ve only released 21 podcast episodes, but already it’s having a tangible payoff in the way people perceive me as an authority in my space.

Hi Jonathan,

I hope you are well. I just wanted to give you an update on the podcast that I created as a result of taking your 5-day Podcast Challenge course.

Last Friday, I launched the first episode of Value Driven Data Science. I also have three more episodes in various states of production, which will be uploaded over the next two months.

Producing a podcast is something that I have always wanted to do, but never thought possible and I am still astounded that this is something I managed to achieve.

Thank you so much for creating 5-Day Podcast Challenge. Without it, I would never have even considered producing a podcast, much less gotten this far. I can’t wait to see where this podcast goes in the future.

All the best in your own business and podcast!

Dr Genevieve Hayes

Jonathan,

I know you have lots of testimonials for 5DPC, but if you ever need anything more I would be happy to do an in-depth one.

I saw you told people not to worry if they are on vacation during the workshop. I think you could be more direct in telling people they will have access to everything forever. I did not start my podcast until months (years?) after the course, but you had given us everything and I just rewatched the videos and “boom” - podcast!

37 episodes in, over 4,000 total downloads, and every episode gets more listens. I’ve niched into a specific group and it is driving the rest of my business. Launching my paid community in a couple weeks on the back of my podcast. Holding my breath!

Your approach makes it soooo simple. The podcast is growing by the day, but nine months in, I am not doing anything different from the very basic stuff you taught us - no expensive equipment, no complicated software, no seo/optimizing strategies, just a solid podcast that makes it easier for me to help more people.

Cheers!

Frederick Buskey

Hi Jonathan!

I was just listening to your show and wanted to reach out to say that I launched my podcast last month and that your 5DPC course - especially all the templates - made it SO MUCH easier.

I ended up hiring a podcast manager to support me with editing and distributing it but they were super impressed with my basic knowledge of Audacity thanks to your course.

Thank you so much for your content!

What if your leads totally trusted you before you even met?

Podcasting is an almost magical way for self-employed folks to grow their business (e.g., developers, designers, writers, photographers, illustrators, accountants, lawyers, etc.).

Why is this?

Because podcasting creates a kind of “asymmetric intimacy” with your listeners - i.e., you don’t know them at all but, they feel like they know you.

I have personally observed this phenomenon as both a host and a listener, but you don’t have to take my word for it... there is scientific evidence to back it up.

The bottom line is this:

Regular exposure to a podcast host creates friendship and intimacy with people in the audience.

And guess what?

People buy from people they know, like, and trust!

I attended 5dpc a little less than a year ago and launched my podcast right after. 5dpc was like a kick for me to launch my podcast.

Producing a podcast doesn’t have to be hard.

Sure, a show like This American Life probably takes a team of people and a ton of money, but that’s not the kind of show you need to create to grow your business.

And yet, most business owners don’t have a podcast. Why not?

Here are some common objections:

If you’ve ever thought about starting a podcast but gave up for reasons like these, I invite you to join us in the 5-Day Podcasting Challenge.

The Five Day Podcasting challenge course helped me to launch a podcast I’d been thinking about doing for months in five days. I started the course on May 11th, and by June 8th, had the first episode produced and released. That’s 3 weeks from the first day of the course to the first episode being available to the public. That’s incredible and a testament to Jonathan’s approach in teaching both the mechanics of how to get started and removing the roadblocks to producing a podcast.

Who is 5DPC for?

5DPC is for self-employed professionals who make money selling their expertise and don’t have a lot of time or energy to market their business. 5DPC might be for you if you would like to:

What is 5DPC?

5DPC is an interactive online workshop designed to take you from zero to podcast in just five days. You will work with me and a cohort of your peers through five lessons released daily:

One short focused video lesson is released each day for five days. You can watch each lesson in about ten minutes. At the end of each, I’ll prompt you with a homework exercise.

Then, you jump into the Slack channel for the lesson and share your homework (or questions!) with me and the other participants to help each other stick to and work through the subject of the lesson.

By the time you’re done, you’ll have your show defined, your gear assembled, your podcast website up, and you’ll be sending out invites to potential guests.

How is this possible?

Is five days enough time to start an amazing podcast? Nope, and that’s 100% on purpose. The only way to create an amazing podcast is to start podcasting and improve with practice.

5DPC is specifically designed to smash through any procrastination or perfectionist tendencies and actually get your show off the ground. If you can run a conference call, you can host a podcast.

Where does 5DPC take place?

5DPC takes place online in a private Slack room that has been structured and customized to maximize engagement with the material and the community.

You can easily watch the lessons and participate in the discussion from anywhere using your phone, tablet, or laptop/desktop.

When is 5DPC?

Lessons for the next session of 5DPC start on June 10th, 2024. Add your name to the announcement list to be notified when early bird registration opens.

How much is 5DPC?

There are podcasting courses available online as high as $2,675 for podcast audio engineering training, all the way on down to free self-paced video courses on Udemy and the like.

5DPC is NOT a self-paced video course that you have to go through on your own (if you ever get around to going through it at all).

Rather, 5DPC is a group experience specifically designed to keep you engaged and accountable.

Plus, I’ll be on hand all week to help you get unstuck and stay on track. The price for 5DPC is $245, which includes the following bonuses:

FAQ

How many hours per day should I plan to devote to this?

The five lesson videos are between 9 and 22 minutes long. It’s hard to say exactly, but I would estimate that the five assignments will take most people about an hour each on average.

From what time to what time are the lessons? And in what time zone?

The lessons are released at 9am ET, but you can watch them whenever you want.

Will you give a “how to” regarding the software required? And editing?

Yes, the basics. Enough to get you started with things like trimming the beginning and end, cutting out any mistakes, exporting as mp3, etc.

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Yes, there’s a money-back guarantee.

If you find that 5DPC hasn’t met your expectations, simply drop me a note after you’ve participated in all the lessons, and I’ll refund your entire tuition.

I’ve run loads of peer-based workshops and have found that when students contribute, they get back far more than they put into it.

Sometimes life gets in the way. If you need to withdraw before you complete 5DPC, I’m happy to defer you to a future session at no cost. Just ask.

To be fair to all, I don’t offer refunds for non-participation.
