Know How

If you want to change from commodity freelancer to in-demand consultant there’s a key mind shift that you need to make.

A freelancer generally thinks of his or herself as someone who executes their craft. For example:

“I build blazing fast software.”

“I design beautiful websites.”

“I write amazing sales copy.”

“I take gorgeous photos.”

A consultant thinks of him or herself as someone who knows how to execute their craft:

“I know how to build blazing fast software.”

“I know how to design beautiful websites.”

“I know how to write amazing sales copy.”

“I know how take gorgeous photos.”

Here’s the thing...

As you shift your identity over time from someone who executes your craft to someone who knows how to execute your craft, your product ladder will naturally grow to include more profitable, higher leverage offerings.
