If I were in your shoes, I’d start making a name for myself while still employed.
Decide what you want to specialize in, and then...
In other words, position yourself as an authority for a specific audience.
You don’t have to do all of these things at once... pick a few that are most natural for you. And if possible, choose at least one that involves speaking and at least one that involves writing.
No matter which audience building activities you engage in while still employed, your goal is to collect the email addresses of as many potential future buyers as possible and email them regularly with helpful info.
When you’re finally ready to make the leap, you’ll have a big ol’ pool of warm leads to dive into.
