Firehose of constructive criticism
One of the things that I’m often called upon to do for the students in my mentoring program is to review their marketing materials and offer my advice.
Here’s how it works:
- Students send me drafts of things like a new home page, an email signup page, a webinar signup page, a product sales page, and so on.
- I fire up my screen recorder (Dropshare, if you’re curious) and I do a live read through, reacting to each section in real time. It’s sort of like user testing, but with a really well informed user :-)
- I send the video back to the student.
Students typically find these videos extremely helpful. The best part is that there often aren’t all that many things that need to be changed to take the piece from “meh” to “wow!”
It’s usually just a question of clarifying what the page is for, rearranging or adding a few sections, and cutting out any weak, mushy, or overly clever copy.
Here’s where you come in...
I’m going to do a free public live teardown session for anyone who has a page they’d like me to review.
It’ll be sort of a “lightning round” format, which means I won’t have tons of extra time to be usual warm and fuzzy self ;-)
