What to Watch Out for With Prospective Clients

Are there signs that potential clients give off that let you know that you should avoid working with them? Yes, there absolutely are. In my consulting work with businesses over the last 7 years I have identified several red flags. Here are three:

  1. Client begins by bitterly complaining about a previous consultant.
  2. Client asks for a discount before you have even discussed the project.
  3. Client is difficult to communicate with, whether it is a language barrier or constant phone tag.

I am sure you have a list of your own. Learn from past mistakes and be sensitive to your gut instincts. You'll save everyone a lot of time and money.
