Optimizing For Fun

One of the things I always really enjoyed about working on value priced projects, was that I could optimize my work for enjoyment instead of efficiency.

When you’re on the clock, there’s always pressure from the client - sometimes implicit, sometimes explicit - to get things done the fastest way.

Assuming there’s no critical deadline pressure (and for me, there almost never was) switching to value pricing removes this artificial urgency and allows you to do things the way you want to, even if it’s not always the most efficient.

Yours,

—J
