The Employee Mindset
Sent by Jonathan Stark on October 23rd, 2019
Have you ever had a thought like:
“I put in my time, they owe me the money!”
On the surface, this might seem like a fair and reasonable thing to think, but on closer inspection it reveals a toxic me-focused “employee” mindset.
This mindset is terrible for your client relationships. Even worse, it leads to two false and self-destructive conclusions:
“The more time it takes takes me, the more my work is worth.”
“The best way to make more money is to put in more time.”
Neither of these points are true. In fact, growing your business to the next level might very well require you to embrace the exact opposite of each statement:
“The less time it takes me, the more my work is worth.”
“The worst way to make more money is to put in more time.”
If you want to grow your business, you have to think like a business owner, not an employee.
Yours,
