Is distracted driving an expensive problem?

Distracted driving qualifies as a big problem. But is it an expensive one? I don’t know for sure, but here’s what I would do to find out...

I’d make a list of the types of people affected by or involved in distracted driving. This would be a pretty long list:

• Drivers
• Parents of drivers
• Police
• EMTs
• Policy makers
• Smartphone manufacturers
• Cellular carriers
• Car manufacturers
• Insurance providers
• etc

With this list in hand, I’d start connecting with folks in these categories looking for individuals, groups, or organizations that meet the following two criteria:

• Is experiencing acute pain from the problem
• Has significant buying power

If I found a party that met both criteria, I’d know that distracted driving was an expensive problem.
