Hourly billing in the 23rd century

According to sci-fi author James S.A. Corey, software developers will still be billing by the hour in the 23rd century.

Here’s a 60 second clip from his book Nemesis Games (the fourth book of The Expanse series):

I hope Corey is wrong about hourly billing surviving for a couple more centuries, but either way The Expanse is utterly awesome.
