Do you believe in your computer?

Do you believe in the computer you’re reading this message on?

Or the chair you’re sitting on?

Or the socks on your feet?

No, you probably wouldn’t think to say that you “believe” in any of these things.

Why?

Because they obviously exist.

Belief isn’t typically invoked for things that obviously exist.

Belief is typically invoked for things that obviously DON’T exist.

If a thing obviously exists you didn’t need to believe in it.

Here’s the thing...

Your beliefs are like a list of things that you wish existed.

And in the fullness of time, it may turn out that they do exist.

Or...

It may turn out that they don’t.

This is why periodically questioning your beliefs is so important.

Beliefs that you’ve outgrown will hold you back.

So if you’re feeling stuck, check your beliefs.

Yours,

—J
