What AI products are you using these days?
One of the Ditchers down in Ditcheville asked me about the “anti-AI” stuff I’ve been posting recently.
Good question!
The anti-AI stuff isn’t actually anti-AI.
AI is good at lots of things, and I use it every day.
What I’m really doing is trying to hasten the realization that AI is no substitute for an actual expert.
Kai Davis asked a follow-up:
What AI products are you using these days?
Fun question! Almost hard to answer because there are so many ways to answer it. Here’s my attempt:
Agents:
- OpenClaw (near-constant daily use)
- Hermes (for fixing OpenClaw if it breaks)
- Claude Code (for serious coding)
- Muse (for posting stuff to IG/LI)
Chat Apps:
- ChatGPT (for one-off dumb stuff)
- Claude (for one-off dumb stuff)
- Claude Design (for slide decks and social media graphics)
Models/plumbing:
- GPT-5.6-sol (for OpenClaw brain)
- OpenRouter (for model switching on the fly)
- MAI 2 (for transcriptions)
- GPT-4o (for chapter/topic detection in transcripts)
- Nano Banana 2 (for image generation)
Also apps that are AI-powered:
- Grammarly
- Riverside
- Descript
There are probably a bunch of others that I’m forgetting or that my OpenClaw uses that I don’t even know about.
Here’s the thing...
I’m not against any particular tool. I’m against using a tool for something it’s bad at.
Treating ChatGPT or Claude as an expert is like pounding in screws with a hammer.
Yours,
