What’s the last book you bought?

POP QUIZ!

Q1: What’s the last book you bought?

Q2: How did you hear about the book?

Q3: What triggered you to buy it?

I’ll go first:

A1: Write a Must-Read by AJ Harper

A2: Brian Herriot raved about it when I interviewed him on Ditching Hourly the other day.

A3: See previous answer.

Here’s the thing...

I had just met Brian when we did the interview.

We only talked for an hour.

We barely know each other.

And YET!

I trusted his recommendation so completely that I bought the Harper book the second the interview was over.

I think this illustrates at least two things:

  1. Trust can be built very quickly in conversation, especially if it’s in person or on a video call.
  2. A word-of-mouth recommendation from a trusted third party is an incredibly powerful buying trigger.

The obvious implication for folks who don’t want to play the algorithm game or spend $$$ on paid ads is this:

What could you do to increase the odds that people recommend you to your ideal buyers in conversation?

Yours,
