Triple Bypass
A man rushes into the emergency room clutching his chest.
He exclaims, “Doc! Doc! I need a triple bypass!”
Should the doctor simply comply with this request?
Of course, not.
That would be malpractice.
The doctor’s job is to diagnose the situation before prescribing a therapy.
Here’s the thing...
When a client requests a specific solution, it may or may not lead to the result that they actually want.
As the expert, your job is to first uncover what result the client is hoping for and then you can decide whether you think the solution they requested is the best way to deliver it.
(Spoiler alert: the solution they request is usually not the best way to achieve their desired result. Why would it be? They’re not experts. That’s why they’re talking to you.)
Yours,
