Professionally Invisible

Jason Staats joined me on Ditching Hourly today to talk about his progression from being an employee in an accounting firm to running the top accounting community on the planet.

The interview won’t be out for a week or so, but during our chat, Jason dropped this fantastic line:

So many of us are professionally invisible. Where are we actually showing up? How is anybody gonna know you exist?

BOOM!

Let’s say there are ten dream clients out there somewhere who would be overjoyed to pay you top dollar to do something you love.

How will they know you exist?

Getting better and better at what you do isn’t the way.

(Being really good at what you do is table stakes.)

So what will make you professionally visible?

You need to go from being an expert to becoming an authority.

AKA: a recognized expert.

How do you do it?

By publishing.

A lot.
