Professionalism

Let’s say you’re allergic to the norms of “professionalism”.

For example…

Maybe a tie feels like a noose to you…

or you hate wearing makeup…

or you think it’s nuts to have a monthly dry cleaning budget…

or you express yourself more effectively with colorful language than corporate jargon or pseudo-legalese…

or it’s more important to you to publish every day than worry about the occasional typo…

or whatever else it is about you that goes against the grain of professional expectations.

What are your options?

One option would be to conform, which might be the appropriate thing to do in some circumstances.

Another option would be to double down on your “unprofessionalism” and build a business in which your idiosyncrasies are an asset (or at least, not a liability).

Totally up to you.

Yours,

—J
