Reader feedback re AI JS
A long-time private coaching student of mine replied to my last message (i.e., AI JS) with a response that should reassure all experts that they still have a lot of value in the AI era:
The idea that people would replace a real expert with an AI is so crazy that it took me 3 days to understand that’s what you were talking about.
Once I finally saw it, I thought:
- There’s no way an LLM can grasp the nuances of a human being, their strengths, their weaknesses, where they want their business to go, and all the rest.
- If you think an AI can replace a real expert, you haven’t worked with a real expert yet. If you had, you’d know there’s just no comparison.
- It made me think about what it would be like to go from working with you one-on-one to working with an AI. The gap is so gigantic, it’s laughable. Do you have any idea how risky that is? I would never trust my business or my livelihood to an AI. I have no way of knowing if it’s feeding me garbage, pandering to me, or actually giving me good advice. There’s no way I’d be able to tell the difference.
While this message happens to be from someone who works with me, it’s not about me.
It’s about the difference between the latest AI model and an actual expert in the mind of your ideal buyer.
Sure, some people might get some benefit from the “Elvis impersonator” version of you, but the trade-off is that they get a much lower price in exchange for a much higher risk.
For things that REALLY matter to the buyer, an impersonator just won’t cut it.
