The Inevitable AI Pendulum

Some observations - and a prediction - based on my personal experience using AI daily for years:

1. AI output is unreliable and generic. For stuff that doesn’t matter much, this is probably fine. For stuff that matters a lot, it’s not.
2. Non-experts who can’t tell the difference between good and mediocre output are easily fooled into thinking AI is some kind of genius.
3. Non-experts who rely on AI for stuff that matters a lot will eventually learn that AI stinks at the really important stuff.

I don’t know how long “eventually” will be, but when it happens, the pendulum will swing back to hiring actual experts for the important stuff.
