How to brainstorm with AI

When it comes to brainstorming, I have found the current crop of LLM AIs to be very helpful for stress-testing an idea and pointing out its strengths and weaknesses.

HOWEVER

It’s tempting to continue past that phase and have the LLM help you fill in the gaps and shore up the weaknesses.

In my experience, this is a huge waste of time.

It makes sense when you think about it...

An editor or analyst can review your idea and tell what’s missing or weak.

But that same editor or analyst is completely incapable of telling you what to do about it.

It’s one thing to see what’s wrong.

It’s quite another to know what to do about it.
