Should you link to your blog in your site navigation?

The primary navigation on your website is prime real estate.

Should you include a link to your blog there?

No, I don’t think so.

Why?

Because nobody’s going to click on it.

What actually happens is you’ll share a post on social media

...and then someone will engage with it

...and someone else will see the engagement

...and they’ll click on the article link

...and hopefully they’ll read the whole article

...and love it

...and finally sign up for your mailing list in the form at the bottom.

Whether they do or don’t subscribe to your mailing list, the next place they’re going to want to go is NOT the top level of your blog.

It’ll either be your About page or your Home page.

And tbh, it’s almost certainly Home, like... by a mile.

So...

Including your blog in the top nav of your site is probably a waste of primo real estate.

Better to keep things uncluttered so when they get to your homepage, they don’t have much else to click on except the thing you want them to do next.

Yours,
