Scope of Web Storage Variables

I did a talk at DIWD 2011 that included a section about building offline web apps. Much to my embarrassment, I gave the audience a bum steer regarding the scope of variables stored in localStorage and sessionStorage. I’d like to set the record straight, and point out a couple quirks of the webkit dev tools in Chrome and Safari.
