John Gruber of Daring Fireball fame has been taking geeks to task for initially calling the iPad “underwhelming” by opining that it will probably revolutionize computing for the majority of users.

I think John’s right that the iPad will revolutionize computing. However, this doesn’t change that fact that as a developer, I was hoping for something more. As a developer, I’m underwhelmed by the iPad; as a consumer, I’m looking forward to receiving mine in the mail.

Is that so wrong?
